The BIOTIC team's activity focuses on the biomechanical study of human tissues, including soft tissues, and the cells that make up them. The approaches developed aim to take into account interactions (between phases, fluid/structure, contact…), transfers (thermal, chemical, mass, electrical…) and multi-scale aspects. The team's work revolves around two interconnected axes. The first is the characterization of behaviours as well as the rheology of tissues and cells. The second concerns in particular their evolution over time: cytoskeleton structuring, tissue morphogenesis, growth of fibrous tissues such as cartilage, study of the risk of rupture of brain aneurysms…
The work is based on medical imaging, multi-physical experimentation, modeling and "specific patient" simulation. A major objective is to provide assistance with diagnosis, therapeutic management and prevention. In this context, some studies are also being carried out on the optimization of implantable medical devices.
